THE DESIGN PROCES OF THE CREATIVE WORKS. STUDIO MONOGRAM

A monogram is more than just a design, it’s a symbol that encapsulates identity, values, and purpose. Crafting one requires a thoughtful combination of creativity and strategy. Here’s a step-by-step overview of the design process:

INSPIRATION

I gathered inspiration to lay the foundation for creativity, exploring various styles from timeless monograms with calm, sharp details.

SKETCHING

The process began with sketches of the initials “C” and “W” from Creative Works, with the circle framing the design.

This approach enhanced clarity and added a decorative touch, ensuring versatility in branding.

Inspired by the circle’s symbolism, representing the organic, the cycle of time, and
eternity, I aimed for a harmonious and timeless aesthetic.

My design process focused on clear, contemporary, and enduring communication,
ensuring the monogram reflected these values.

EXPLORING COMBINATIONS

Using transparent tracing paper for rough sketches allowed me to explore various
combinations of the two letters and forms. By layering the sheets on top of each other, different designs emerged.

This creative process feels entirely different when done by hand, rather than on a
computer. It’s clearer, more connected, and I feel more in tune with the process.

TYPOGRAPHY AND SHAPES
In this process, I updated the written wordmark CREATIVE WORKS. STUDIO by opting for a new font: Archivo. This font is more condensed and geometric, excelling in digital and branding contexts. Its angled curves and sharper edges give the letters a more stable and bold appearance.

To incorporate the circle’s symbolism, I used the letter “C” to form the circular shape by mirroring two CC against each other.

I explored various combinations for positioning the letters “C” and “W” within the monogram. Ultimately, I found harmony and stability by adding a line that divides the circle at its midpoint, allowing the two letters to merge into a cohesive whole.

However, I felt that the design became too rigid and stark, with its straight lines and sharp transitions between elements. This led me to refine the details further to achieve a softer and more balanced expression.
